DA: King Street man nabbed with large ammo cache, bullet-proof vest

Boston Police executing a search warrant at an alleged drug dealer's 30 King St. home found more than just drugs, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office: They also picked up a Ruger P345 .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun loaded with eight rounds, a BSA laser sight, a bulletproof vest; 47 live shotgun shells and almost 300 rounds of ammunition in calibers ranging from .22 to .45 in Sarro's bedroom.

"It was an ammo cache in the heart of a residential neighborhood," District Attorney Dan Conley said in a statement.

Sarro, 30, was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail at his arraignment yesterday in Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, and possession of Class A and Class D substances with intent to distribute.

According to the DA's office, after police gave Sarro a copy of their search warrant and read him his Miranda rights Sunday afternoon, he volunteered that he had about a gram of heroin in a bag in one pocket and another 4 grams in another bag in his right sock. Police also recovered five bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, such as scales and plastic bags, along with roughly $1,700 in cash.
