Police arrest suspect in string of pizza delivery robberies

Boston Police have arrested a young man suspected of robbing two pizza delivery drivers on Monsignor Lydon Way in the last week.

On the afternoon of Dec. 19, officers responded to a radio call that a Domino's Pizza employee was robbed while delivering pizzas to 110 Monsignor Lydon Way by two black males in their late teens who displayed firearms and took the driver's phone, food, and $500 in cash before fleeing through a back yard towards Dawson Street.

According to the store manager, the phone number used to place the order had been used several weeks earlier for a delivery to an address on Dawson Street that abuts the site of the robbery.

Four days later, police received a call from an employee of Currach Bistro and Pizza who said he was robbed at the same location and had his iPhone, food, and a small amount of money stolen in a similar manner. Police learned the second delivery had been placed using the same phone number as the Dec. 19 robbery and tracked the victim's iPhone to a store in Codman Square.

An employee at the store said he purchased the phone from two men who matched both victims' descriptions and identified one of the men out of a photo lineup, this was later corroborated by the Currach Bistro employee who wrote "that is the guy who put a gun to my neck."

Police said they arrested Dawson Street resident Deonte Curry, 20, for armed robbery, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and receiving stolen goods.

Monsignor Lydon Way has been hard hit by crime in recent months. On Oct. 30, two men were shot while walking on the street by a gunman who was allegedly trying to rob them. A local teenager, 17 year-old John Graham, has been charged in that incident. Graham also been indicted for the Oct. 10 shooting death of Ciaran Conneely, who was murdered outside his home on Nahant Ave.
