On July 19, a group led by city officials will walk along Dorchester Avenue from Fields Corner to Peabody Square to explore the walking environment of the busy Dorchester thruway.
The program, titled “Neighborhood Walks,” will be hosted by the Boston Transportation Department and the Boston Public Health Commission. The walk will also feature Mark Fenton, host of the PBS television series “America’s Walking.” Fenton a graduate of nearby MIT and a former engineer at Reebok – is an expert at the relationship between walking, street design, and public health.
The walk will also explore how current and planned improvement projects will contribute to the city’s goal of making a fostering a more modal, green urban environment.
