The owners of Cataloni's, 10 Hancock St., have asked the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission to overrule the Boston Licensing Board's decision to shut it because of alleged cocaine sales and purchases by customers.

The ABCC, which has ultimate authority over liquor licenses in the state, holds a public hearing on the appeal on Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at its offices at 239 Causeway St.

At a hearing this week, Boston Licensing Board Chairman Daniel Pokaski called the bar - featured in the movie "Gone Baby Gone" - a "drug bazaar out of control."

On Nov. 28, Boston Police say they arrested a woman inside the bar on charges she was selling cocaine out of a bag taped to the underside of a bar stool. Also arrested were some patrons to whom she had allegedly just sold the drug.

Police records show another cocaine-sales arrest at the bar on June 24 and two cocaine-possession arrrests on June 9.
