The trial of two men accused of killing a Dorchester woman in a horrific crime on Monsignor Lydon Way back in 2004 ended in a hung jury on Wednesday, marking the third time the case has stalled in a Boston courtroom.

Judge Patrick Brady declared a mistrial after jurors reported that they could not resolve a 10-2 split after five days of deliberations.
The case centers on the Feb. 13, 2004 murder of Betsy Tripp, who was stabbed to death in her apartment. Her boyfriend was shot, but survived the incident. Prosecutors say that Quincy Butler, 35, and William Wood, 34, killed Tripp.
The first trial of Butler and Wood ended in a deadlocked jury as well, with 1 juru holding out against a conviction. This time, two jurors voted against conviction. A second trial ended abrutply last year when the presiding judge took ill.
District Attorney Dan Conley vowed to try a fourth time "at the next available date.
“We will not be deterred from holding each of these men accountable for their actions,” Conley said.
