A medical emergency involving a person on the tracks at JFK/UMass Station brought shuttle buses and transit police to the Red Line and commuter rail station on Thursday afternoon.

A person who was on the tracks was transported to a local hospital, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said in an e-mail to the Reporter. He added that the circumstances were under investigation.

Shuttle buses temporarily replaced Red Line service between JFK/UMass and North Quincy, according to an MBTA statement. As of 2 p.m., Red Line trains were running again with “moderate residual delays.”

Kingston/Plymouth and Middleborough Line trains temporarily made additional stops at JFK/UMass, Quincy Center, and Braintree, as did Greenbush Line trains at JFK/UMass and Quincy Center to accommodate passengers, the MBTA said on Twitter.
