The Meetinghouse Bank branch on Dorchester Avenue in Lower Mills was robbed by a gun-wielding man on Wednesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. No one was injured in the incident, but employees of the bank were shaken by the incident.
According to bank president Anthony Paciulli, the suspect placed a large automatic handgun on the tellers' counter and demanded money. Witnesses say the suspect was at least six-feet, two inches tall and was wearing a hood and sunglasses.
He was described as a black or Hispanic male. The suspect ran from the bank and left the scene in a car that had been parked in the driveway of the Sweet Life, a restaurant and bakery.
Paciulli estimated that the armed robber made off with about $2,000 in US currency. The bank has been closed since the incident took place and will not re-open today as police and FBI agents continue their investigation.
