A teenager was ordered held without bail on Wednesday pending a dangerousness hearing on charges he cut up at least two cats behind an abandoned house on Mt. Everett Street.

The 17-year-old, not named because of his age, was charged with being delinquent on two counts of cruelty to animals as well as trespassing and possession of a dangerous weapon after police found him behind 29 Mt. Everett St. around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday - along with cat parts - the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports:

"Officers observed dismembered animal parts in the yard, as well as a machete, hand saw, folding knife, a right-hand rubber glove, bottle of Clorox bleach, and a black trash bag marked with the defendant’s first name."

He was wearing a glove on his left hand when caught, the DA's office adds.

According to the DA's office, a neighbor reported that "dismembered cats had been observed in the yard in recent weeks."

At the request of prosecutors, Judge Joseph Johnston ordered him held until at least a hearing on Monday to determine whether he poses a risk to the public.

Both the Animal Rescue League of Boston and the MSPCA are also investigating, the DA's office says.
