The Boston Police Department reports the Members Plus Credit Union at 494 Gallivan Blvd. was robbed around 12:50 p.m. on Thursday by a man who gave a hand-written note demanding money.
The man, about 5'8" and wearing a blue Patriots stocking cap, a black scarf and jacket and gray pants and gloves, ran out.
Not long after, police say, a credit-union customer who watched the robbery unfold spotted the man walking on Oakton Avenue, several blocks up Adams, and called 911.
In a statement, police say:
"Officers promptly proceeded to that location where they located an individual who matched the description of the suspect. While approaching the suspect, officers instructed him to remove his hands from his pockets. When the suspect removed his hands, officers quickly noted that the suspect was wearing gray gloves. A search of the suspect enabled officers to locate a ski mask and Patriots hat found on the suspect's person. The suspect was transported back to the bank where, once there, he was positively identified by bank personnel."
Pat Howard, 35, of Dorchester, was then charged with bank robbery.
