The Transit Police Department reports that around 5 p.m. on Sunday, a man walked into the Savin Hill Red Line station and began shooting at two other people.

All of his shots missed, police say. Both the intended targets and the shooter then fled.

Transit Police are now investigating whether a man arrested for illegal gun possession near the scene on Sunday afternoon is connected to the Savin Hill station incident.

Boston Police who were on patrol near the station spotted 21 year-old Dennis C. Wilson on Roach Street, a few blocks away from the shooting scene. According to a Boston Police account, officers saw Wilson “walking from the scene at a hurried pace, sweating, and glancing nervously at the officers. As officers approached, the suspect fled, and officers pursued him on foot onto a rear porch near 12 Roach Street.”

As police apprehended him, they say they found a loaded black Brascia-Brevetto handgun in his pants. Wilson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Breaking and Entering a Dwelling (Day), Larceny, and Resisting Arrest.

Wilson has not been charged with firing the gun at Savin Hill station yet, although Lt. Detective Richard Sullivan of the Transit Police Department said “a possible connection between the two incidents is part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by Transit Police.”
