If state Rep. Dan Hunt has his way, some $250,000 will soon find its way to the rehabilitation of Tenean Beach, long seen as needing substantial re-engineering.

Hunt has filed amendments to the House’s environmental bond bill one of which would help secure the money for the Dorchester beach. But it would only be a first step, Hunt noted. “If this gets through in the bond bill, the first thing to do is to talk to the incoming governor. This belongs on the capital side rather than the operating side of the budget.”

Because the proposed allocation is for a bond rather than straight cash, it requires an okay from the governor. The bill also includes $20 million for capital projects along the stretch of beaches from Hull to Nahant.

The proposed amendments also call for funding for a dog park in the city and $2 million for the agricultural trust, has been referred to the Senate Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures, and State Assets.
