City Councillor Rob Consalvo’s mayoral campaign unveiled its first TV spot on Monday night. The ad, titled “All In for Boston,” notes that he worked for the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy and his support for a felony gun offender registry.
The ad shows him shooting three-pointers on a basketball court while wearing a Boston Celtics shirt. The court is at Iacono Playground in Hyde Park, according to Boston magazine’s David Bernstein, who had the first look at the ad.
Campaign spokesman Kevin Franck said the ad buy is “substantial” and it includes broadcast and cable. They plan to be up on TV through Election Day, he added.
The ad’s title mimics an Adidas slogan and the colors - yellow, white and blue – are similar to the colors of the Boston Marathon and the “Boston Strong” motto.
The ad and its script are below.
"I was born and raised in Boston, and started my career working for Ted Kennedy. I'm the only candidate for Mayor who served in federal, state, and city government. As Mayor, I'll hold big banks accountable for abandoned homes they foreclose on. On the City Council, I helped to reduce gun violence with ShotSpotter technology, and as mayor, will enact a felony gun offender registry, and I'll fight to put our neighborhood schools first, because my kids go to Boston public schools. I'm Rob Consalvo, I'm all in for Boston."
