Man charged with trying to kidnap child from Fourth party to which he wasn't invited

The Boston Police Department report arresting a man on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery on a child under 14 after an incident on Wentworth Street on July 4th.

According to police, Manuel Cardoso, 44, was walking down Wentworth around 4 p.m. when he went up to a house where there was a party going on and "attempted to urinate on the side of the house and then began to engage in conversation with a few children."

Adults at the scene told him to leave. Police report: "At that time, the suspect grabbed a child by the back of the neck, and attempted to drag him towards the street. The suspect had to be physically removed from the property and he fled the scene."

Officers found him about a block away on Darlington Street, police say.
