Police say two teens reapeatedly punched Christmas carolers in the back of the head on Johnston Road

The Boston Police Department reports it will seek criminal charges against a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old they say approached a group of "elderly Christmas carolers" from behind on Johnston Road in Dorchester and punched two of them in the back of the head several times, around 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say the carolers were there to lend some musical support to a friend.

The two victims declined medical attention and were initially unable to find the suspects, but, police say: "Detectives conducted a follow up investigation, and were able to identify two juvenile suspects who were involved in the assaults. Detectives interviewed the juvenile suspects with their parents, and the juveniles admitted to the crimes."

The two will be charged with assault and battery on a person 60 or over, police say.
