Man dead after overnight shooting in Dorchester

A police investigation is underway after a fatal shooting Thursday night in Dorchester.

Police responded to a report of shots fired near 89 Woodrow Ave. at around 11:11 p.m., and found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

This marks the second fatal Dorchester shooting in a week, and the third this month. An 18-year-old was shot and killed on Cameron St. on Wednesday; A 17-year-old faces a manslaughter charge and a 15-year-old faces a gun charge in connection with the teen’s death. On Feb. 11, a 62-year-old man died after a shooting on Columbia Road.
