17-year-old arrested in Cameron Street fatal shooting of teen

Officials on Wednesday night arrested and charged a 17-year-old from Dorchester for the fatal daylight shooting of an 18-year-old in Dorchester in the afternoon. The suspect is being charged as a juvenile, his name has not been released.

The accused shooter is due in Dorchester Juvenile Court on Thursday to face gun charges. He is charged with manslaughter, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling,

At around noon on Wed., members of the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 6 Cameron St. in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located a Kareem Garnett, Jr., 18, of Dorchester suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

While still on scene, officers arrested a 16-year-old male, from Dorchester, and charged him with possession of a firearm.
