A woman was shot and injured early Tuesday morning near the corner of Park and Waldeck Streets, not far from Fields Corner, in an incident that remains under investigation by Boston Police.

The victim was "alert and conscious" when she was transported to an area hospital, according to an account of the incident report provided by Boston Police, who were called to the scene after a nearby shot spotter device picked up the gunfire. She had suffered more than one bullet wound.

Police found shell casings in front of 39 Waldeck St. A witness told investigators that he heard gunshots and saw a white, four-door sedan fleeing in the direction of Melville Avenue.
