Man fatally shot, police find him outside anti-violence meeting in Codman Square

A 19-year-old sitting in the back of a car on Norwell Street near Washington Street was shot around 7:10 p.m. on Friday. The driver got him to Codman Square, where police found the man at Norfolk Street and Talbot Avenue - right outside the Great Hall, where City Councilor Andrea Campbell and the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute were holding a forum on combating violence in the area.

"I am keeping the young man we lost tonight, and his family, in my prayers," Campbell tweeted after the forum. NBC Boston reports participants had to exit through a rear door of the Great Hall because of the police investigation outside.

The man is Boston's 52nd murder victim this year, and the 21st in Dorchester.
