A morning fire on an exterior balcony at the Keystone Apartments on Hallet Street triggered a big response from the Boston Fire Department this morning. The fire on the third floor of the elderly housing complex was known down quickly, thanks in part to a fast-acting resident who used extinguishers before firefighters arrived.
Boston Fire Department Deputy Chief Jay Fleming said that no one was hurt in the incident, which was reported at 6 a.m. The incident did not require an evacuation of the six-story building and crews cleared the scene before 7 a.m.
