A Jamaica Plain man collared in September after allegedly firing gunshots near Ashmont Station has been indicted for first-degree murder in a separate case. A grand jury has charged Johnnie Bonnie, 22, with the June 29 shooting death of 17 year-old Evens Archer of Dorchester.
Archer was mortally wounded after a party in home in Castle Court, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. He died three weeks later. Police and prsecutors say Bonnie was the gunman who shot Archer in the back of the head.
Bonnie was arrested near Ashmont station on Sept. 20 for carrying a .38 calibre revolver. He was stopped by police near Ashmont after they were called to the scene for a report of shots fired. He has been held on $15,000 cash bail since his arraignment.
The gun allegedly found on Bonnie near Ashmont was “not the one used in Archer's homicide,” according to the DA’s office.
