A 39 year-old Mattapan man was convicted of second-degree murder on Tuesday for shooting 29-year-old Shawn Flores to death in Sept. 2011. Kendrick Clark faces a mandatory life term for the murder inside an Abbott Street rooming house. Clark fled to North Carolina where he was apprehended in Oct. 2011. No one witnessed the fatal shooting, but Flores made a dying declaration that Clark had shot him.
“The help of witnesses at and near the scene was crucial in holding this defendant accountable for the life he took,” District Attorney Dan Conley said. “Without it, Mr. Flores’ loved ones might still be waiting and wondering instead of knowing that justice was done.” Judge Patrick Brady will sentence Clark this week.
