Gov. Patrick "disappointed" by Ferguson decision

Gov. Deval Patrick said he was disappointed listening to the announcement Monday night that a grand jury in Ferguson, Mo., did not indict Darren Wilson, a white police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old black man. The case has been a flash point for racial tensions, and Patrick said there is a lack of understanding between the community and law enforcement.

"It was the reaction of most of you," Patrick told reporters after an event in Chelsea on Tuesday morning. "Which was, I wasn't surprised, but I'm still disappointed, and I understand the incredible anguish of that community and other communities who don't feel understood by law enforcement, and I understand that a lot of law enforcement don't feel understood by the communities they serve."

Patrick said he was thinking about Michael Brown's family and others. "My heart goes out to the people of Ferguson," Patrick said.
