Four-alarm fire tears through Boyd Street three decker

The Boston Fire Department reports a fire that erupted around 3 p.m. at 7-9 Boyd St. quickly went to four alarms and displaced nine residents.

Five firefighters were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries or burns.

The fire went to three alarms shortly after a water pump failed.

The fire did an estimated $500,000 in damage, the department says, adding the cause is still under investigation.
