Click for larger.The Boston Police Department says a man arrested Friday is responsible for a series of armed holdups of gas stations and convenience stores in Dorchester, Mattapan and Medford - with a replica firearm.

Michael Gomes, 35, was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Friday at a home on Woodgate Road in Mattapan. Police say they seized a replica black firearm used in several robberies in recent weeks.

Police say Gomes was already wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
