Man busted for alleged break-in attempt on Gallivan Blvd.

An Allston man carrying what may have been a laundry list of potential burglary targets was arrested by C-11 Boston Police officers on Tuesday afternoon after a tip from a concerned neighbor.

Police responded to a 911 call from a Cedar Grove resident around 11:50 a.m. who said he saw a white male wearing a tan jacket and carrying a backpack attempt to shoulder his way through the back door of a condominium at 401 Gallivan Boulevard. Responding officers found a suspect matching the caller's description leaving the property.

Officers found a lock on the back door of unit C had been damaged and the 911 caller confirmed he had watched the suspect trying to force his way through the door. Police arrested the man, identified on a police report as Aaron J. Bourque, 29, of Allston.

When questioned, Bourque admitted to tampering with the lock and was put under arrest for attempted breaking and entering. A subsequent search of his backpack revealed a handwritten note with three nearby addresses listed, with 401 Gallivan Blvd, unit C topping the list.

The arrest is the latest example of alert neighbors leading police to arrest a potential burglar. Last month, residents in Neponset called the cops on a teenager who they thought was casing homes on their streets. Police later busted the teen for allegedly trying to break in to one home through a back door.
