Warning that the extreme heat conditions now being experienced in Boston "can cause regular activities to quickly become dangerous situations,” Mayor Menino this afternoon extended a heat advisory for another day. Temperatures eclipsed the 100 degree mark on Friday afternoon as the region suffered through day four of a July heat wave.
Menino extended the city's plan to offer extended hours for city-run pools and cooling centers through 9 p.m. on Saturday night. For questions about heat-related city services, residents should call the Mayor's 24-Hour Hotline at 617-635-4500. Comprehensive heat safety tips and resources are available on the city website at www.cityofboston.gov/heat.
