Thousands expected to bade farewell to fallen State Trooper Paul Barry

On Thursday June 15, 2006, Massachusetts State Police Trooper Paul Barry died as a result of an accident while on duty. The funeral services for Trooper Barry will be held at Saint Mark Church, 1725 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. The wake will be held on Monday from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and the Funeral Services on Tuesday at 11:00am.

Out of respect for Trooper Barry and the logistical concerns surrounding his services, a groundbreaking for the Ashmont TOD project scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday has been postponed. It has not yet been rescheduled.

On Monday June 19, 2006 and Tuesday June 20, 2006, there will be no parking on the following Streets:

Dorchester Avenue (Both sides, from Melville Avenue to Talbot Avenue)

Welles Avenue (Both sides, Talbot Avenue to Dorchester Avenue)

Chevrus Street (South side, from Dorchester Avenue, 100 feet back)

Talbot Avenue (North side, from Welles Avenue to Argyle St.)

On Monday June 19, 2006 at 12:00pm, Welles Avenue/ Talbot Avenue and Welles Avenue/ Dorchester Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic.

At 4:00pm, all traffic outbound on Dorchester Avenue will be diverted toward Adams Street and all traffic inbound on Dorchester Avenue will be diverted onto Talbot Avenue or Ashmont Street.

On Tuesday June 20, 2006 at 7:30am, the following Streets will be closed to vehicular access:

Welles Avenue and Talbot Avenue

Welles Avenue and Dorchester Avenue

Dorchester Avenue and Talbot Avenue

Dorchester Avenue and Ashmont Street

At the following locations no traffic will be allowed inbound toward St. Mark Church:

Dorchester Avenue and Wrentham Street

Dorchester Avenue and Edwin Street

At the following locations no traffic will be allowed toward Dorchester Avenue:

Dorchester Avenue and Lonsdale Street

Lonsdale Street and Florida Street

Samoset Street and Roseland Street

St. Mark Road and Glenrose Road

Adams Street and Parkman Street

At the following locations no traffic will be allowed outbound toward St. Mark Church:

Dorchester Avenue and Centre Avenue

Dorchester Avenue and Whitten Street

Dorchester Avenue and Centre Street

Dorchester Avenue and Mather Street

Dorchester Avenue and Dix Street

Dorchester Avenue and Parkman Street

Dorchester Avenue and Melville Avenue

Dorchester Avenue and Park Street

At Dorchester Avenue and Gibson Street all traffic will proceed on Gibson Street toward Adams Street.
