Former Dorchester state representative and judge Paul J. Murphy died on Thursday, according to his alma mater, Boston College High School. Murphy, a native and longtime resident of St. Mark's parish, was a five-term state representative for Dorchester's Wards 16 and 17. He retired as Chief Justice of West Roxbury District Court.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday (2-6 p.m.) at the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.) Dorchester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mark's Church Monday, October 25 at 10 a.m.
