Mayor Thomas Menino has recorded a robo-call for Kelly Timilty, who is running for another term on a judicial vetting panel.
In the call, Menino says her Democratic primary opponent has spent "$200,000 of his own money on a very negative campaign."
Menino does not mention the opponent, Robert Jubinville, by name.
Boston has "no place" for those kinds of politics, Menino adds.
Jubinville, who lost to Timilty in a 2008 primary, has been hitting Timilty over a false endorsement from Gov. Deval Patrick her campaign touted two years ago. The faux endorsement also had a reproduction of Patrick's signature. The move, which Timilty said was a mistake, infuriated the Patrick camp.
In November 2008, Timilty's campaign committee agreed to pay an $8,000 fine over the matter.
Timilty represents the Second District, which includes parts of Boston, as well as Braintree, Milton, Dedham, Norwood, Randolph and Wellesley, among others.
The Governor's Council, an eight-member institution that's a hold-over from the Bay State's colonial days, reviews and approves the governor's judicial nominations, treasury payments and justices of the peace.
The primary is Sept. 14.
