City elections officials have laid out early voting dates, times and locations for the City Council preliminary.
The preliminary election in four City Council districts is set for Tuesday, Sept. 12. But as in recent past elections, voters will get a chance to mail in their ballots, and head to locations throughout the city for in-person early voting.
The four districts are 3 (Dorchester and part of the South End), 5 (Hyde Park, Mattapan, and Roslindale), 6 (Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury) and 7 (Roxbury, the South End and Dorchester). The winners of the preliminary advance to the November final election.
District 3 has seven candidates vying to replace Frank Baker, who isn’t running for another two-year term. District 5 has four candidates, with three seeking to challenge incumbent Councillor Ricardo Arroyo. In District 6, incumbent Kendra Lara faces two challengers, and District 7’s Tania Fernandes Anderson faces three challengers.
