February presents a spate of murders

A 17-year-old man from Dorchester was arrested and charged for the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Kareem Garnett, Jr., who was gunned down outside 6 Cameron St. last Wednesday (Feb. 19). The suspect was charged as a juvenile, so his name has not been released. He was arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court on Thursday, charged with manslaughter and weapons violations.

Members of the BPD’s Youth Violence Strike Force responded to the call for shots fired around noon. On arrival, officers located Garnett, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police officials say the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at 617-343-4470.
