The Dorchester Reporter, founded in 1983, is a community newspaper which is published every Thursday. It is circulated to subscribers and sold at newsstands across the neighborhood. DotNews.com is the online home of the Dorchester Reporter.
The newspaper and website are owned and operated by Boston Neighborhood News, Inc., a Dorchester-based company. Husband-and-wife team Ed and Mary Forry launched the Reporter to provide their hometown with timely and insightful news, opinion and information about Boston's largest neighborhood.
Today, the Reporter is owned and managed by Ed and Mary's son Bill Forry and his wife Linda Dorcena Forry, a former state Senator and a trailblazing Black leader who was the first woman to represent her districts in the state Legislature. The Forrys also manage BostonIrish and BostonHaitian.com.
NENPA memberThe Reporter has won a number of awards for excellence in journalism, including from the New England Newspaper and Press Association (NENPA) and UMass Boston's Center for Media and Society, and has twice been named Best Neighborhood Newspaper by the Improper Bostonian. In 2013, the Reporter won first place in the NENPA's Better Newspaper competition for Spot News coverage by a weekly newspaper. The paper has won raves from Greater Boston's Beat the Press for its coverage of city politics.
