The New England Foundation for the Arts’ Creative City program will stage the world premiere of “Running in Stillness,” a dance-theatre performance by Roxbury’s Marsha Parrilla and Danza Orgánica this weekend in Dudley Square. The performances take place Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, at 8pm at Hibernian Hall, located at 184 Dudley St.

“We bring a message that is honest, complex, but simultaneously hopeful,” explained Parrilla, a native of Puerto Rico. “Through this work, we investigate the impact that incarceration has in the bodies of incarcerated women, and how this phenomenon spills over through generations.”

“My colleague and friend Tony Williams shared an NPR story with me – it was about women in prison, working with professional musicians to create lullabies,” Parrilla continued. “This segment really inspired me to dig deeper into the stories of women who are incarcerated and how their families are impacted.”

Parilla is the founder of Danza Orgánica a Boston-based contemporary dance theater company that launched in 2007. It tackles complex social issues, while providing a high caliber aesthetic experience.
