The third annual Dorchester Park Classic Car Show and Family Fun Day is set for Sunday, Sept. 13 at Dorchester Park. Cars will be on display from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the Adams Street entrance to the park. All antique and classic cars are invited to participate. Registration will be on site.
Admission to the event is free and will include family activities, demonstrations, games, music, balloons, horse and carriage rides, bubbles, Dot Art, the opportunity to explore public service vehicles, demonstrations by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department including service dogs, balloon twisting and face painting.
Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic or to choose from the different food options which will be available on site.
Family Fun Days activities are scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. and parking is easily available on local streets or free at Carney Hospital. For maps and additional information, see dotpark.org or like “Dorchester Park” on Facebook.
“More than 100 vehicles participated in last year’s event,” noted organizer Tony Paciulli. “Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Dorchester Park is the perfect backdrop for classic cars.”
Performers from the Boston Music School always draw a large crowd and children gather around storyteller Angela Bonds from the Boston Public Library throughout the afternoon, Paciulli said. Games include bean bag toss and a variety of races.
Refreshments will be available from Ester’s Restaurant, Flat Black Coffee and Sweet Life Bakery, all of Lower Mills, and from food trucks.
