Charlie Baker will ship up to Dorchester for his first Friday night as governor, thanking supporters with a special concert featuring the Dropkick Murphys at the Strand Theater in Uphams Corner, his office confirmed Tuesday.
Baker and Lieutenant Gov. Karyn Polito will both be on hand for performances from the Dropkick Murphys, whose lead singer Ken Casey was a big Baker backer during the campaign, and from the Fiddlehead Theatre Company, which will perform its latest show “The Wiz.”
In a series of glittering events, Baker will be sworn into the corner office at noon on Thursday at the State House. Later that afternoon, he will visit the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative at the Kroc Center in Uphams Corner to highlight the organization in his “Spotlight on Excellence” tour.
