Rob Consalvo’s mayoral campaign is bringing on a former spokesman for the Massachusetts Democratic Party as its communications director. Kevin Franck has also served as a spokesman for the Louisiana Democratic Party.

A former high school teacher with a master’s degree in education, Franck briefly served as communications director for the state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

Consalvo, the District 5 city councillor since 2002, is one of 12 people running for mayor.

Separately, Bill Walczak’s mayoral campaign hired its own communications director: Dee Dee Edmondson. A Kentucky native, Edmondson has worked as a state Senate aide on Beacon Hill.

Edmondson has also worked for Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications and MassEquality , and consulted for Elizabeth Warren’s U.S. Senate campaign.

Walczak is the co-founder of the Codman Square Health Center.
