Former state Rep. Charlotte Golar Richie, a former aide to Mayor Thomas Menino and Gov. Deval Patrick, will be a candidate for mayor, sources tell the Reporter.
She was a Dorchester state representative for five years and co-chaired the Joint Committee on Housing and Urban Development. In the Menino administration, she headed up the Department of Neighborhood Development. She also served as a senior adviser to Gov. Patrick and headed up his campaign committee. She is currently a senior vice president for public policy, advocacy and government relations at a nonprofit, YouthBuild USA, according to its website.
Richie had a gathering of supporters at her home on Sunday to tell them about her decision to join the race to replace Mayor Thomas Menino, who is not running for a sixth four-year term.
