#BosMayor Round-Up: Oct. 18, 2013

18 days to Nov. 5. City Councillor At-Large John Connolly will privately meet with gang members and anti-violence workers from StreetSafe Boston in Roxbury. The meeting will be followed by a walk through the area. State Rep. Marty Walsh meets with Haitian community leaders at Sant Belvi and hits a golf tournament reception in South Boston.

CONNOLLY PUSHES ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER: Connolly was in Roxbury yesterday to promote a proposal to create a public private pilot program focused on growing entrepreneurship in Roxbury. “Although Boston has one of the most innovative economies in the world, there are too many Bostonians who don’t have opportunities to take part in it,” Connolly said in a statement. “We need new ideas to help people find work and reduce inequality. An entrepreneurship center in Roxbury would help connect more Bostonians to business and economic opportunities.” The campaign has posted several videos from the rollout, available here.

ADDITIONAL ENDORSEMENTS FOR WALSH: Rep. Walsh is expected to pick up more endorsements from elected officials from communities of color, the Boston Globe's Jim O'Sullivan reports. They include state Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz of Jamaica Plain, state Reps. Carlos Henriquez of Dorchester and Russell Holmes of Mattapan and District 7 Councillor Tito Jackson of Dorchester and Roxbury. Separately, former rivals who have already endorsed Walsh are planning meet-and-greets to introduce their supporters to Walsh. City Councillor At-Large Felix Arroyo's camp blasted out an email to supporters earlier this morning promoting a meet-and-greet in Jackson Square on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Former state Rep. Charlotte Golar Richie's camp sent out their own email yesterday, telling supporters of a meeting with Walsh on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 6:15 p.m. in the Dorchester offices of SEIU 1199. The email noted: "This meeting is closed to only my supporters - no press allowed."
