The Milton Democrat challenging U.S. Congressman Stephen Lynch is pressing for more debates.
Lynch, a South Boston Democrat, and challenger Mac D'Alessandro are scheduled to face off later this week at WBZ-TV's Allston studio, in a debate set to air Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. Analyst Jon Keller moderates the debate, which will be taped on Friday.
"While a 15-minute mini-debate is certainly better than no debate at all, I hope Congressman Lynch doesn't think this one short appearance gets him off the hook," Deborah Shah, D'Alessandro's campaign manager, said in a statement. "Voters deserve to see the candidate discuss the issues side-by-side -- and with the many critical issues facing our country right now, one 15 minute debate alone is hardly adequate."
The D'Alessandro camp said they have also been invited to a Sept. 2 debate with voting rights group MassVOTE, of which Shah is a vice chair of the board, WXBR in Brockton, and Boston's WGBH, but the Lynch campaign has yet to commit.
The winner of the Sept. 14 Democratic primary faces the winner of the Republican primary and independent Phil Dunkelbarger. Two Republicans are running: Keith Lepor and Vernon Harrison.
