In praise of 'serious journalists'

New England Cable News' Jim Braude received some love from Sam Yoon's mayoral campaign tonight. Fellow mayoral hopeful Kevin McCrea, not so much.

"There hasn't been nearly enough discussion of the issues that will move Boston's city government into the 21st Century - but it is starting - and that's a good thing," wrote Mary Grissom, Yoon's campaign manager, in an email to supporters.

"Luckily, we are fortunate to have serious journalists in Massachusetts who also think that voters need information as soon as possible before going to the polls," she said in the email, titled "You Decide!" "This week, Jim Braude of New England Cable News (NECN) interviewed all the candidates for Mayor on his BroadSide Show."

"So, in case you missed them - take a few minutes to watch the candidates answering questions from an experienced journalist. I hope that this will help you make a decision on whom to support for Mayor in September and November," she added.

The email links to the candidates' NECN interviews. Except Kevin McCrea's. And after McCrea had a bunch of nice things to say about everybody on his blog, too. Rough.

For voters who need information as soon as possible before going to the polls, here's a couple of links (given the advent of the internet and all): Yoon's site. Here's McCrea's. Mayor Thomas Menino's. City Councillor At-Large Michael Flaherty's.

Not enough information as soon as possible? Here's a few others: The Boston Globe's section; Universal Hub's section; The Boston Metro's section; CommonWealth's CW Unbound blog; and WBUR's section. And, of course, The Boston Phoenix's blog. You have to search the Boston Herald's site, but there's stuff there.

Anything missing? You decide.
