Mayor Thomas Menino won't be attending the MassVOTE forum in Jamaica Plain scheduled for tonight, citing a packed schedule.
On his public schedule, he has the 5:30 pm opening ceremony at the Vietnam Memorial "Moving Wall" tour that features a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The event is at Millennium Park in West Roxbury.
He then hits the campaign trail with a Bay Village Neighborhood Association block party and a Read Boston event in Hyde Park, his home neighborhood.
After not attending an East Boston forum, Menino caught flack on the front page of this morning's Boston Herald, with the headline: "NOWHERE MAN." He was at a Newbury Street gala that had previously been on his schedule.
Menino has participated in a number of forums, including a Ward 4 and Ward 5 forum held on Monday night and the first MassVOTE forum in Roxbury weeks ago. He has also participated in two televised debates on WBZ-TV and FOX25.
The MassVOTE forum in Jamaica Plain is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the English High School.
