(UPDATED) Feeney: Candidate’s mailer erroneously lists her endorsement

The mailer City Council At-Large candidate Tomas Gonzalez is sending to Boston voters erroneously lists District 3 Councillor Maureen Feeney’s endorsement.

A perturbed Feeney said Friday she has not endorsed Gonzalez, who has held past City Hall jobs such as Latino liaison and chief of staff to the Elderly Commission.

In an e-mailed statement, Gonzalez apologized: "Maureen Feeney is a tremendous councillor for her district who has worked hard everyday for Dorchester. I apologize to her and all Bostonians for mistaking Councillor Feeney's enthusiasm and support for an endorsement. I made a mistake and I want to be transparent and accountable for my mistake."

Gonzalez’s green and white mailer, obtained by the Lit Drop, also lists Councillors Sal LaMattina and Bill Linehan, though their offices say the two councillors have endorsed Gonzalez.

Gonzalez is running for one of fifteen candidates running for the four At-Large seats. Tuesday’s preliminary will narrow the field to eight candidates.

Feeney was elected to the council in 1993 and served as city council president in 2007 and 2008. She is running for another term unopposed.

UPDATE: Updated to add Gonzalez's statement.
