The Pee Wee A team’s players and coaches of the Dorchester Youth Hockey league put an exclamation point on an outstanding (32-1-1) season on Sunday by beating a Springfield squad to win the state championship in their division. The “grinders and muckers” – as parent Tommy Mannion describes the boys – won five games over the St. Patrick’s weekend to secure another banner for the Devine Rink in Neponset.
“They are so proud to be in the same company as the Pee Wee A team of 2004 with Kevin Hayes, John Mlescko and Eddie Nolan, the last Pee Wee A team to win states,” Mannion told the Reporter.
The team showed true grit and teamwork all season long and especially in the final three-day grind to the big win. Dorchester is deservedly proud of the boys, their parents, and their coaches who have made this a season to remember.
Thank you, Pee Wee A’s, for giving Dorchester something to cheer about!
