Easter ‘sunrise service’ set for USS Constitution

The USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship afloat and America’s Ship of State, welcomes the public to a ‘sunrise service’ commemorating Easter aboard the ship this Sunday, starting at 6:30 a.m.

The nondenominational service will be conducted by a US Navy chaplain. Guests may begin boarding USS Constitution at 6:30 a.m. for the service that will start at 7 a.m. and conclude at 8 a.m. with morning colors and the firing of the ship’s saluting battery.

Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. And all guests aged 18 and older must present a valid state- or federally issued photo ID or passport to board the ship.

The iconic ship, which played a vital role in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812, safeguarding American sea lanes from 1797 to 1855, is open for public visitation Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
