Mayor Wu announced this week that she is pregnant and her family plans to welcome a third child next year. “Conor, Blaise, Cass, and I can’t wait to welcome another little one to our family and to Boston,” Wu said in a statement released from her campaign to supporters Monday evening. “It hasn’t been an easy journey, but I’m due in January and couldn’t be more grateful.”
The 39-year-old told the Globe that she’s expecting a girl and that her pregnancy would not influence her decision to run for reelection next year. “I plan to run, and we’ll make an announcement when the time is right about the formal launch of a campaign,” Wu said.
Though she has pushed for the option for city workers, Wu said she does not intend to take maternity leave.
