Sweet Teez Bakery —owned by Dorchester's own Teresa Thompson Maynard — will open a new store on the ground level of Dot Block next year, according to the ownership of the Dot Block apartment community.

Founded in 2016 to create peanut-free sweet treats for those with nut allergies, offers cakes, cupcakes, brownies, pies, and more, all crafted to delight. Sweet Teez has been searching for a retail location in Dorchester for years.

“I look forward to opening our flagship bakery at Dot Block in the community where I was raised and where I am raising my family alongside my husband Kelvin, COO of Sweet Teez," Maynard said in a statement sent to The Reporter. "I hope that the bakery can be a space for community members to gather, and to feel inspired and emboldened to pursue their own dreams.”

More on the Sweet Teez story here.

"Sweet Teez Bakery is a local treasure whose baked goods are known across Boston and has served as a critical resource in our community for years," said Mayor Michelle Wu in a statement. "Sweet Teez's journey from launching in 2016 to meet residents' nut-free needs to now securing their first brick and mortar location in Dorchester is remarkable and a testament to Teresa Maynard's vision and the power of community. I'm thrilled to see Sweet Teez continue to succeed as a SPACE Grant recipient and look forward to supporting this opening. Congratulations to Teresa, the whole Sweet Teez team and all of our partners on this exciting announcement that shows what's possible when we support our local small businesses who are anchors in our communities."

"Sweet Teez Bakery is a fantastic addition to the Dot Block and Dorchester community. Teresa’s baked goods have earned a stellar reputation, and we are thrilled to welcome her," said Rachael Diharce, Vice President of Retail Leasing at Samuels & Associates.

The lease agreement is also good news for Dot Block, which opened to residents in 2023. This is the first retailer to move into the building's ground floor space.
