The annual Enchanted Trolley tour stopped at Codman Square on Sunday as part of its tour through Dorchester and Mattapan last weekend.
As Santa and Mrs. Claus marched across Codman Square to the Codman tree, happy children followed in tow ready to tell Santa their hopes for the season – and report on how good they’ve been all year.

DJ Fast Freddy emceed and state Rep. Brandy Fluker-Oakley and Councillor Henry Santiago accompanied Mayor Wu to light the tree. It is the final year for the neighborhood’s traditional tree as Codman Park went under construction on Monday and a new location for the tree will be chosen.

Before the Trolley arrived, scores of children and families had gathered at the Great Hall for a Christmas party with crafts and gifts. After Santa’s visit, Wu and community members from Codman Square staged a brief groundbreaking for the Codman Park project, where work should continue through next fall at least.
