A June 3 return for DorchFest - a big hit last year

After a hugely successful launch last year, the Ashmont-Adams section of Dorchester will host the second annual DorchFest on Sat., June 3. The Dot Day weekend festival will feature live performances on porches and front-yards at roughly 50 homes in the heavily residential neighborhood between Ashmont Street and Gallivan Boulevard.

The free event is organized by volunteers who rely on sponsorships from institutions and local businesses to pay the artists who perform.

Last year’s event, which is being co-hosted by the Ashmont-Adams Neighborhood Association and Greater Ashmont Main Street, featured 45 bands in a variety of genres, including rock, oldies, acoustic, funk, jazz, hip hop, Haitian, Cape Verdean, folk, Indian, Caribbean, reggae, Latin, electronic, and more.

For more information on how you can donate to or sponsor the event, check out the website dorchfest.com. More info on performance times and locations will be posted soon.
