Bank, apartment hit by gunfire in Codman sidewalk shootout

There were no apparent injuries, but Boston Police found six shell casings on the sidewalk, one bullet that hit the Rockland Trust bank, and another that hit an apartment across the street on Sunday at noon during what police said was a shootout between two men on Talbot Avenue near Codman Square.

Witnesses told police that two men, one in a burgundy hoodie and one in a grey hoodie and mask, began shooting at each other in the vicinity of 305 Talbot Ave. before fleeing on foot. Neither man was caught, and no injured parties were reported.

A large contingent of police responded after a ShotSpotter activation, and a survey of the scene found three shell casings on the sidewalk, one behind a vehicle and two in the roadway in front of the bank. No one was injured inside the apartment, and the bank was closed.

The incident remains under investigation by Boston Police.

Two killed in motorcycle crash – Police continue to investigate a crash on Blue Hill Avenue near American Legion Highway on Saturday night that killed two people. Police reported that just before 11 p.m. a motorcycle hit a pedestrian in the roadway, and then crashed. One victim – who has not been named – was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was taken to a local hospital, where they passed away later from injuries related to the crash. It was believed that the driver of the motorcycle, and the pedestrian were the victims.

Drug probe leads to firearm seizure – An ongoing firearms investigation in Mattapan led to the arrest of John Rosa, 30, of Dorchester on Nov. 20, with a corresponding search warrant of his vehicle on Nov. 24 allegedly revealing a firearm loaded with 11 rounds.

Police were conducting the investigation on Wilmington Street at 12:40 p.m. on Nov. 20 when they stopped Rosa as he was driving away from the area. He was allegedly found with oxycodone and $1,130 in currency. He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm), threats to commit a crime, and trafficking of class B. He was arraigned in Dorchester District Court. More charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device will be sought regarding the loaded firearm.
