State Police report a man trying to walk across I-93 near South Bay made it across the southbound side and the median OK, but as soon as he jumped a barrier onto the northbound side was hit by a Highlander and thrown back onto the southbound side, suffering fatal injuries, around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday.
State Police say:
"The Toyota operator, a 53-year-old man, stopped immediately and called 911 to report the crash and was cooperative with investigating Troopers. At this time there is no indication that the operator was driving in a reckless manner or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
"The victim had no identifying information in his possession. Attempts to identify him remain ongoing."
